Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts hosted Signature Weekend from May 31 to June 1, 2025 under its Signature Selection brand, in collaboration with the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.The event brought Oscar-nominated director Deepa Mehta and producer David Hamilton to Sri Lanka for screenings of Water, Midnight’s Children, and Funny Boy, all filmed locally. It also featured panels, roundtables, and an exclusive afterparty across Cinnamon Bentota Beach – Signature Selection and Cinnamon Life – City of Dreams.

More than a cinematic celebration, the weekend showcased Sri Lanka’s cultural richness and production-ready landscapes, reinforcing the island’s growing reputation as a global hub for storytelling and film tourism.
